First-Time Father: The Essential Guide for the New Dad (2nd Ed)

Author(s): Graeme Russell; Tony White

Parenting & Pregnancy | BABY SHOWER GIFT GUIDE

In this new edition of First-time Father, authors Graeme Russell and Tony White describe how the desire of new fathers to be more actively involved with the day-to-day raising of their children has increased over the last five years. Men are now more aware of the impact their involvement has on their children's development, right from the start. They want to know what is going on at each stage of the pregnancy, what their role in childbirth is, and how to share the parenting with their partner after the birth. They also are increasingly looking for ways to combine their working lives with their family lives. From their 40 years of research and practical work with new fathers, the authors cover the five most common questions contemporary dads are asking: one, how important am I as the father? Two, what does my child need exactly? Three, how can I connect with my new baby. . . and stay connected through their lives? Four, how can my partner and I work as a team? Five, how can I include my child in all aspects of my life? This practical and down-to-earth book offers solutions and options answering these questions and many more. Most importantly, it recognizes that men, increasingly, want a satisfying home life as well as a successful career and to be a vital part of their children's lives.
